Organizing Your Songs
As your library grows, finding the right song quickly becomes really important — especially on a Saturday night when you're still finalizing Sunday's setlist!
Here are some simple ways to keep your songs organized. 🗂️
Use Tags to Group Similar Songs
Tags are like sticky notes you attach to a song. You can add multiple tags to any song, and then filter your library by tag when you need to find something fast.
Good tag ideas:
- By genre:
contemporary,hymn,gospel,christmas - By mood:
upbeat,reflective,worship,celebration - By key:
key-c,key-g,key-e - By season:
advent,easter,thanksgiving
How to add tags:
- Open any song in your library
- Look for the Tags field
- Type a tag and hit Enter (you can add as many as you like)
- Click Save
Pro tip: Be consistent with your tags. If you use "christmas" for some songs and "Christmas" for others, they'll show up separately when you filter. Lowercase works best!
Create Folders (Playlists)
Folders let you save groups of songs for quick access. Think of them like playlists on Spotify, but for your worship team.
Examples of useful folders:
- "Our Most-Used Songs"
- "Slow Worship Songs"
- "Advent 2025"
- "Songs We're Learning"
How to create a folder:
- Go to your Songs library
- Click + New Folder (or "New Playlist" depending on your version)
- Give it a name
- Add songs to it by opening a song and clicking Add to Folder
Use the Search Bar
Your song library has a powerful search. You can search by:
- Song title
- Artist name
- Tags
- Lyrics (if you've added them)
Just start typing in the search bar and results appear instantly.
Sort and Filter
In your song library, you can sort songs by:
- Recently added — find your newest songs
- Alphabetical — classic and easy
- Most used — great for finding your go-to songs
- Key — helpful when planning around a specific key for the day
Keep Songs Updated
When your team figures out a better arrangement — a key change, a new intro, a capo position — update the song in Cloud of Worship so everyone has the latest version.
Heads up: Only Admins and Worship Leaders can edit songs. If you're a Musician and need to suggest a change, use the Comments section on the song.
